All Wales Manual Handling Passport

Essential training for all care and nursing staff working in Wales.

Introduction

This course is delivered over two consecutive days and meets all the requirements of the All Wales Moving and Handling Passport Scheme.  The course aims to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries caused by poor manual handling in the workplace, reduce the risk from bad practice for clients and carers, and to meet requirements of best practice. Once the training has been completed successfully, the candidate will receive their Moving and Handling certificate and training record as proof that training has been undertaken.

  • Back pain and how it is caused
  • Caring for your back
  • Risk assessment tools for people moving and handling
  • Introduction to REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment)
  • Practical assistance for a person, including: into and out of bed, assisted walking, assisting to stand and sit
  • Practical sessions, including: inanimate object handling, mobile hydraulic hoists, mobile electric hoists, passive and active hoists, all types of slings, turntables, transfer boards, handling belt, slide sheets, walking frame, lateral transfer equipment etc.
  • Completion and issue of Passport Documents

Course Outcomes

Successful completion of this training course will result in the award of a CPD certificate covering all aspects of the above course content
