Falls Prevention Champion

This two-day Falls Prevention Champion course is aimed at experienced and senior staff members

Introduction

Falls and fractures in vulnerable people aged 65 and over account for over 4 million hospital bed days each year in England alone. Falls destroy confidence, increase isolation and reduce independence, with around 1 in 10 older people who fall becoming afraid to walk independently.

  • The impact and consequences of falls in health and social care

  • Legislation and guidance related to the fallen person

  • Personal and medical factors

  • Environmental factors

  • Assessing a person for falls risks

  • Monitoring and reviewing of falls assessments

  • Multi-agency and specialist support available

  • Reducing harm in the event of falls

  • Learning from falls to improve care

  • Practical session

Course Outcomes

Successful completion of this training course will result in the award of a CPD  certificate covering all aspects of the above course contents.
