The Care Certificate


This three day, certificated course is the Government’s ‘Skills for Care’ determined requirement for those who are new to care, or established carers who need to formalise and certificate their care experience. Covering all the Core Standards of the full Care Certificate, this course uses a mix of presentation, exercise and practical delivery methods. Our training team will work with you to ensure that the training reflects the ethos, client group and policies and procedures of your organisation. The course includes a comprehensive workbook and in-depth resource manual for each learner. Detailed elements of each Core Standard are:

Day One:
    • What is The Care Certificate?

    • The Six C’s

    • Role of the Worker

    • Confidentiality

    • The Data Protection Act and Caldicott Principles

    • Agreed Ways of Working

    • Care and Support Plans

    • Raising Concerns and Whistleblowing

    • Equality and Diversity

    • Mental Capacity Act and DoLS

    • Risk Assessment and Lone Working

Day Two:
    • Policies and Procedures

    • Worker Development

    • Record Keeping

    • Nutrition and Hydration

    • Communication

    • Health and Safety

    • COSHH

    • Fire Safety

    • Food Hazards and Poisoning

    • Infection Control

Day Three:
    • Safeguarding

    • Emergency Aid and Basic Life Support

    • Moving and Handling

    • Optional Day 4: Administration of Medicines, Clinical Observations, Dementia Awareness, Mental Health Awareness, Learning Disability Awareness

Course Outcome

Your staff will be equipped with a knowledge of the core standard of care and how to apply them to their role and those within their care.
